Fully Loaded Takes the National Points Championship Title for the ’16 Season!!!

We did it! We won the Lucas Oil Champions Tour 2016 Championship Title!

We went into the last pull at Wheatland, Missouri with a four point lead. The track was really loose and soft. As we started down the track we started to get pulled to the far left side of the track. As the brakes were used to correct the less than desirable path, we were able to straighten out our run. As we continued down the track, we again got pulled to the left nearly running out of bounds at near the end of the track! The brakes were used again as we spun out. This caused the left tire to dig in the soft dirt. The tire dug so far down in the soft dirt that it set the tractor on the wheelie bar on the left side which caused excessive engine rpm being there was no load on the motor. This cause some significant engine damage, as you can see from the picture below. We were extremely lucky not to have kicked the rods out of the block!

However, we able to take the lead at the pull! We also we able to drive past the Taking Care of Business John Deere driven by Aaron Hull, who was holding the second place points position. We finished up the season 12pts ahead to take the Championship Title! Congratulations to Ron Barga on Dad’s Toy for taking the win at Wheatland Missouri.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors, friends, fellow competitors, Riverside Engines, Karlen Motorsports Chassis, Humpco Machine, Blackbourn Racing Components, and also my awesome crew for their help, encouragement, and assistance in enabling us to win the National Points Title on the Lucas Oil Champions Tour!

Waynesburg PA, second to last Lucas Oil Champions Tour 2016 Event.

We were able to get everything back together from our breakage at our prior state level hometown pull with the help of many, which we truly appreciate! The clutch is brand new, however due to time constraints, we have not received our new clutch can and are borrowing a fellow puller’s clutch can. This can is easily adaptable, however is designed to fit 12″ 4 disc system when we typically run a 11″ 5 disc system. It would take a lot of modification to make our system into a 12″ disc system and has been determined that for the remaining two pulls, and for the amount of time we had available to be ready for Waynesburg PA, that the 4 disc 11″ clutch system would work…and it did!

With threatening weather moving in, pull time was at 7pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Waynesburg PA was underway a few minutes early. We were the first class, grandstand side of the two track event. We initially were sixth hook.

Now, if you have been following along during the season, we have been battling it out with Taking Care of Business driven by Aaron Hull this year. Entering Waynesburg PA, we currently are in the lead with 1st place by 6 points… Which isn’t any too much.

TCOB was the test hook and the decision was made after his initial pass to change the sled. TCOB dropped to last as his official run.

The track as usual there was a tricky one to read. The left side appeared to be a little more favorable than the right, however we also ran out of bounds last year on the left side at Waynesburg. Silver Bullet was up ahead of us and he started the sled on the right side of the track. He got pulled to the left and had to correct his path and it was then decided by the driver of the Fully Loaded to start the sled on the left side of the track, angled to the right. This proved to not be the best decision. The motor ran very strong but we had to use the brakes twice fairly hard to keep the tractor from going out of bounds on the left hand sideline. This cost the team a lot of distance. We still went 325 feet or so and were feeling somewhat confident with that. all in all it wasnt too bad of a run.

However, as time continued to go on the track seemed to improve tremendously for the remaining tractors in the class, as they continued to get greater distances than what we had obtained.

TCOB finished fifth in the competition obtaining two points on us as we were sixth. We still have a four point lead on the end of season championship. So it will definitely be a battle to the end in the Unlimited Super Stock Class at our next event in Wheatland Missouri!

Stark County Ohio, hometown pull and made it to the pull off!

Labor day weekend was an exciting weekend for the Fully Loaded Team. It was our hometown event on Friday night! Tons of friends and fellow pullers came and packed the fairgrounds for the event.

Fans from around our local area were able to see the Fully Loaded up close, meet the team and ask questions about the tractor. We also celebrated one of our crew members birthday! Happy Birthday Austin!!!!!

The track at Stark County Fair was once again superb! Hats off to the Schmucker Family and crew members who did, yet again, an AWESOME job on the track! Our first run down the track was picture perfect. Weighted perfectly, the motor was running just right, and we went the furthest distance of 349 feet! The full pull was set at 340 feet. We were in the pull off along with Scott Cantrell and Frank Keener!

(Thanks Nick G. for the video from the stands!)

Now comes the quandary. We are focusing very hard on trying to win the PPL ULSS Championship…we came to the Stark County Fair because all of our local fans don’t get the chance very often to see us so close to home and also because this year we have Brechbuhler Scales / B-tek Scales, LLC on board as a sponsor. So the question is… Should we pull in the pull off? Or just settle for third place and save the tractor for the next PPL event in Waynesburg PA the next weekend. Tough decision! As many of you know who have personally met the members of the FLPT, we have a very competitive “let’s do this” attitude! So of course we were going to do the pull off!!! With the help of some friends, Andy Brechbuhler, David Sicafoose, Tonia Baker, Tom Haun, and everyone else, we checked the necessary things, cooled down the turbos and the motor as much as possible, made some fuel adjustments, and we were ready to go for the pull off with less than 10 minutes to spare!

As we hooked to the sled, and tightened the the chain, we were ready to rock the dirt! As the RPM’s came up the motor was sounding awesome again! We began to let the clutch out, starting our journey down the track, looking for the win! The front end came up just as it did before and we were just starting to really pick up momentum! When all of a sudden the front came crashing down and the engine RPM’s went high and we came to a dead stop. We ended up second place to Keener who won the event.

When we got home we had found the clutch stand bolts broke…which caused a lot of unhappy parts with in the clutch can. The clutch discs, stands, stand bolts, floaters, and pressure plate were destroyed.

The team has a ton of work to do before the next PPL Champions Tour event the following weekend.
Through the enormous help of our awesome crew, Karlen Motorsports, and the SoupLine Express pulling team, we were able to round up parts to get us going in time for the Waynesburg PA pull! Thanks souch to everyone who assisted and offered to assist in getting us back together! The amount of support and willingness to assist was truly appreciated!!

Wellington, OH NTPA Grand National Event; Top 5 Finish for the Fully Loaded

Wellington, Ohio NTPA event treated the FLPT well. This event was the final in the NTPA Grand National Event series for the 2016 season. These competitors had their tractors set on kill to try to finish up the best that they could at the last event of the year!

We ended up being second to last hook and spent time examining the track to find the best possible track position while the rest of the class competed. Finally it was our time, and the Fully Loaded finished in 5th place! It was great to spend time with other competitors and their families that we don’t normally get to see on the Lucas Oil Circuit!

Next pull… An OSTPA (state level) event in Canton, OH at the Stark County Fairgrounds Friday Sept. 2nd. 7pm start time. Hope to see you there!

Hamburg, NY bad and good for the Fully Loaded Team.

The Fully Loaded Team had a tough time at Thursday evenings session at Hamburg NY. The motor was running great, sounding awesome, and then the burst panel blew in the intake manifold.

This obviously caused the tractor to shut down, however we were still able to obtain a sixth place finish! However, our close competitor, Taking Care of Business driven by Aaron Hull, took the win that night. This decreased our points lead tremendously as we entered the session with a 12 point lead to now, only a 4 point lead after session one in Hamburg Lucas Oil Thursday session.

The Friday session turned out to be a big improvement on performance as the team was able to fix the burst panel problem and obtain a third place podium finish!

However, Taking Care of Business was directly behind us as Aaron Hull was able to obtain a fourth place finish. We are now only six points away from second place, but still hanging on to the number one spot on the Lucas Oil Champions Tour Unlimited Alcohol Super Stock Class!

However, Friday’s session left its mark on the Fully Loaded motor. A burnt piston was discovered on the number 4 cylinder.

With some speedy work from the Fully Loaded crew and Riverside Engines in Tiffin Ohio, our engine builder, we were able to get the motor freshened back up in no time! Thanks to Phil Schalk, Austin and Mom for all of their help!

Next pull is a Grand National NTPA event in Wellington, Ohio! Should be interesting to see how the Fully Loaded competes, as this is the final Open Super Stock Class event for the season for the NTPA Tractors. They all ought to have the “super tune” in them!
